Strides 4 Sight was started to raise awareness and money for Operation Eyesight which works to prevent blindness and restore eyesight in developing counties. Founded in 1963, Operation Eyesight began as a program to raise funds for people needing eyecare throughout India.

Through the years it has expanded and today they provide much more than simple eye exams. They perform prevenative eye surgeries, treating eye diseases such as glaucoma and trachoma and fund other preventative programs such as improved nutrition and health clinics. Operation Eyesight focuses their efforts in India, and Africa but through the assistance of programs like Stride 4 Sight are expanding thier programs to numerous other countries.

Veteran runners from our office, Diana Locklear, Erica Boldt and Ellen Armbruster ventured out into the cool Minnestoa autumn weather to be in attendance and to represent Kraus-Anderson Insurance at the race. The team ran some great times, with Ellen Armbruster even bringing in the top female time of the race! Said Ellen: “I really enjoyed this run. I was especially impressed with how many of the doctors from Minnesota Eye Consultants were participating in the event with their families.”

Diana Locklear agreed, stating: “This was a fun way to support a great cause and to help increase awareness of the wonderful things they are doing.  Strides 4 Sight has undoubtedly changed many lives for the better.  I was happy to help support them!”
