At Kraus-Anderson Insurance (KAI) we believe that being a good neighbor means more than just building great projects—it means building stronger communities. Our team members can be found throughout the year rolling up their sleeves and opening their hearts, whether they’re wielding paintbrushes at local shelters, donning aprons at food banks, or picking up shovels for community gardens. This spirit of giving isn’t just something we do; it’s who we are.
From local initiatives that strengthen our immediate neighborhoods to national and international causes that address broader needs, our people consistently demonstrate that corporate responsibility isn’t a checkbox—it’s a cornerstone of our culture. The organizations and causes we support reflect the diverse passions of our team members, and their dedication to making a difference extends far beyond our office walls. Below is a snapshot of some of the meaningful work our Kraus-Anderson family has been involved with recently, along with notes from just a few of the people who make it all possible.

Heart of the City for Kids Feeding Kids
“Kids Feeding Kids is such a valuable program. It gives children the chance to learn cooking skills, discover new foods, and experience the joy of preparing meals to share with others. What struck me most was seeing how many people came out to participate and support these young chefs. When KAI provides opportunities like this to give back alongside my colleagues, it reinforces that we’re not just a company that works in this community, we’re truly part of it. Supporting local needs shows we genuinely care about the people around us, and that means everything to both our neighbors and our team.”

“I joined the Heart of the City charity walk because it was a perfect opportunity to support a local cause while staying active and connecting with coworkers outside the office. More than just a walk, this became a real team moment. It was so energizing to see everyone come together.”

Fall Giving
“Getting involved in community events gives me such a sense of purpose—I love helping people and bringing them joy. What completely surprised me was when the entire police and fire departments showed up to eat burgers and hot dogs with us! It was chaotic for a moment because we hadn’t expected everyone from both departments to arrive at once, but seeing how grateful they were made it all worth it. Experiences like this really highlight what makes KAI special—we have an amazing group of people who genuinely want to give back to the communities where we live and work.

Ronald McDonald House
“Having experienced firsthand how challenging it can be when a family member faces health issues, I knew I wanted to give back to organizations that support families during their most difficult times. Volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House felt like a meaningful way to offer the same kind of support that others had shown my family. What I love most about working at KA is the genuine care you can feel the moment you walk through our doors—care for coworkers, clients, and vendors alike. When our team volunteers together for something this important, that culture of caring extends far beyond our office walls. My hope is that the families we served felt that same authentic care while we were there, and it’s something that stayed with me long after the event ended.”

Children’s Hospital
“Having spent time at Children’s Hospital with my family, I understand how much small comforts can mean to kids facing medical challenges. What surprised me most was seeing how many of my KAI colleagues were eager to help put together blankets for these young patients. The moment that really stuck with me was realizing the true impact these blankets have—knowing that something we created together could provide comfort to children during such a difficult time feels immeasurable.”

Hearts and Hammers
“KA has been participating in H&H for as long as I can remember. I used to go to these events on Saturday afternoons with my dad, Dennis, when I was just a kid. What always amazed me was watching the skilled construction volunteers tackle the real technical work while we’d help out by scraping paint and pulling weeds. It’s incredible to see how this tradition has continued to be such an important part of who we are as a company, and now I get to work alongside the next generation of KA team members as we carry it forward together.”
